 조기자 : 안녕하세요 검떠님, 반갑습니다. 오늘은 1980년대에 유행하던 오락실 게임기들을 복원하는 시간을 가지려 합니다.
 검떠: 이야~ 40년대라니, 제가 80년대 초 생인데 저랑 나이가 비슷한 게임기들이라는 얘기죠? 당시에는 100원도 아니고 50원 아니었나요 
 조기자: 그렇죠. 아주 오래전이죠. 시간이 이렇게나 지났을 줄은.. 휴휴. 
 여튼 당시에 유통되던 게임기들을 이번에 복원을 하기로 했습니다. 정확히는 복원이라기 보다는 다시 게임 플레이가 가능하도록 작업하는 것이죠. 이 게임기들을 복원하는데에도 2명의 고수분들이 도와주셨는데요, 
 한 분이 우리 포스팅에 자주 등장했던 호빵님, 그리고 대림상가에 게임아이 송대표님이십니다. 두 분께 다시 한 번 감사의 말씀을 드립니다.

 조기자: 저희가 추억의 게임장을 운영하면서 파손된 게임기들도 많이 있었죠. 그런 다양한 게임기들을 수리하고 있는 상황이니까요. 하나 하나 작업한 것을 살펴보도록 하겠습니다. 
 가장 먼저 손을 댄 것은 '버수스 시티' 문짝 입니다. 버수스시티는 양쪽이 서로 붙어있는, 대전 격투 게임 전용 캐비넷이죠. 제가 가장 애용하는 캐비넷이기도 하고요. 
 그런데 이 캐비넷이 용달을 통해 몇 번 왔다 갔다 하다가 하단 부분이 파손되어 문짝이 제대로 고정이 안되는 상황이 발생했었죠. 그래서 관련으로 수리하기로 했습니다.

 조기자: 일단 게임기의 아래 쪽을 나무 박스 등으로 받치고, 문을 뽑아냈습니다. 아예 아래쪽이 휘어 있어서 제대로 고정이 안되어 있더라고요.

 조기자: 이렇게 버수스시티를 마무리한 후 두 번째로 80년대 게임기들의 수리에 들어갔습니다. 80년대 게임기들도 1차적으로 수리를 해서, 브라운관을 교체를 한 상태거든요. 그런데 문제는 하단쪽 바퀴가 너무 오래된 나머지 손상이 심한 상태였습니다.

 조기자: 작업 공정은 나름대로 간단했습니다. 옛날 게임기의 바퀴를 뜯어내고, 나무 보강판을 달고, 바퀴를 교체해주는 거죠. 
 필요했던 건 나무 용 강력 본드, 그리고 보강을 위한 나무판, 그리고 새로운 바퀴, 그리고 피스였습니다. 기기를 눕힐 장비는 이미 갖춰져 있었으니 수월하게 작업할 수 있었죠.

 검떠: 생각보다는 간단한 작업이군요?
 조기자: 네 그렇죠. 이번 복원기는 최대한 '원본의 느낌을 그대로 가져가는 게 목적' 이었습니다. 바퀴 부분은 사람들의 감성에 큰 이슈는 없을 뿐더러 계속 이동할 때 마다 문제가 될 수 있었던 부분이라 편의상 보완해준 것이죠.
 이러한 작업을 80년대 게임기 3대에 전부 해주었습니다. 이 게임기들을 이렇게 보강해준 이유는, 올해 연말에 오픈될 넷마블 박물관에 양도하려고 하기 때문이죠. 애초에 박물관이 생기면 양도하려고 구비해둔 제품이었거든요. 그리고 다른 기기들도 뜯어서 보았는데, 미묘하게 제품이 다르긴 하더군요.

 조기자: 그렇죠. 시간이 좀 더 있었으면 저 바퀴 자체의 녹을 갈아내고 원활히 움직이도록 했을텐데 좀 편하게 작업하려고 새로 교체하게 되었죠.

 조기자: 자아 이렇게 80년대 게임기의 수리를 완료했는데요, 이대로는 살짝 아쉬워서 세가새턴의 파워도 수리해보았습니다. 이번에 추억의 게임장을 하면서 세가새턴이 하나 또 터졌거든요. 관련으로 수리를 하게 되었죠. 
 검떠: 파워가 죽었을땐 파워를 교체하면 되고, 픽업이 죽으면 갈 면 되고.. 세가 새턴은 소중하니까요
